  18. SUBJECT:   Disposition of Additional NIGHTFALL Artifacts

  21. Still awaiting confirmation and direction from MJ-12 on disposition
  22. of artifacts collected from directed ground search following
  23. recent Project Nightfall recovery operation (ref. MNT-1034, 
  24. 1056, 1112).

  26. Unseasonably high temperatures have dissipated snow cover from
  27. both primary and secondary impact sites and have allowed us to 
  28. dispatch a security and retrieval team earlier than anticipated.    
  29.  
  30. Review enclosed report from MSgt. Vern for a detailed description 
  31. of ground search, which included a topsoil removal and sift, per 
  32. AFR 100-292.8.  Note that approximately 19 lbs. of additional 
  33. material was retrieved, including several large pieces recovered 
  34. in a ravine located 1/4 mi. SSW of secondary impact site.  These
  35. should be considered associated with secondary impact site, and
  36. not as a tertiary impact site.

  38. As indicated in original report, anomalous residual radiation was 
  39. detected in association with a number of artifacts and a NUMAT 
  40. containment team was dispatched accordingly.  Per MJ-12 directives, 
  41. these artifacts are currently secured in our emergency containment 
  42. vault.  Other material presently under armed guard in secured 
  43. storage facility adjacent to base.  No additional organic material
  44. recovered.

  46. Upon confirmation of scheduling and classification, remaining 
  47. artifacts will be transported to designated Wright-Patterson 
  48. facility as well as the new Arizona facility.

  61. I realize you folks are in it up to your ears, but we're getting
  62. a lot of slow walker radar traffic here, and we're just not set 
  63. up to handle it like you are.  We'll all sure sleep a lot better 
  64. the sooner this stuff is out of here.  BGK
